Council of Forensic Organizations
Providing Information about Intercollegiate Speech and Debate
Dear Forensics Community:
The forensics teams and Pi Kappa Delta chapters of Texas Christian University and Wiley College cordially invite you to the inaugural Tolson/True Swing to be hosted on the beautiful sunny campus of Texas Christian University February 19-21, 2016. Each tournament is named after a historic director at Wiley and TCU to honor our team heritage. C. Allen True and Melvin B. Tolson were the directors at TCU and Wiley College, respectively, in 1935 when Wiley and TCU first met in a public debate.
We invite you to join us for a weekend of competition featuring two complete individual event tournaments with the ten NFA individual events plus POI, and a debate tournament with NPDA and IPDA debate formats. Each individual event tournament (Alan C. True Invitational on Saturday and Melvin B. Tolson Invitational on Sunday) will include two preliminary rounds and a final (semi-finals if necessary). NPDA and IPDA will include six preliminary rounds on Friday, and out-rounds as needed on Friday evening and Saturday. IPDA will include novice, varsity, and professional divisions. Draws will be flighted.
Students may enter in either NPDA or IPDA on Friday, but not both. Students may enter three individual events per pattern on both Saturday and Sunday. Two duos counts as two events.
Further details about the Tolson/True Swing follow on the next few pages. We look forward to receiving your entry by the deadline: Tuesday, February 16. We can’t wait to welcome you to beautiful Fort Worth in February!
