Unfortunately\, due to space restrictions and limited judges available\, we are unable to accommodate IPDA Junior Varsity\, Professional\, and team IPDA divisions at this tournament. \n  \nAll entries must be received by Wednesday\, January 15th\, 2020\, at 5:00 pm EST. You must register at the\nSpeechwire.com website which provides all of our tournament information. Emailed entries will not be accepted. \n  \nChanges will be accepted without charge until Thursday\, January 16th\, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. EST at which point fees will be set. Late fees will be charged for any changes after the 16th at noon (in addition to any fees associated with the entry).

DESCRIPTION:Dear Forensics Friends\, \nOn behalf of Northern Virginia Community College\, the NOVA Forensics Team is delighted to invite you to the Washington DC metropolitan area on Saturday\, October 26th\, 2019 for the Richard J. Ernst Invitational. The tournament will be held on the Alexandria\, Virginia campus of Northern Virginia Community College in the Bisdorf building. Our tournament features strong competition\, a variety of food and wellness perks for your students and a talented tabulation staff for an efficient tournament experience. We will provide ceramic themed awards created by NOVA art students for all events and also offer high quality plaques and trophies for final round participants and team sweepstakes award winners! \nThis year\, in addition to offering competition in 11 AFA sanctioned individual events; the Richard J. Ernst Invitational will also offer IPDA Debate! There will be four preliminary rounds and two elimination rounds in IPDA Debate. Phi Rho Pi rules govern IPDA debate. In the round\, students doing IPDA will be given a choice of 5 resolutions (2 policy\, 2 fact/value\, 1 metaphor). Negative will strike first; Affirmative will strike second\, and so on until one resolution is left. As per Phi Rho Pi rules\, students ARE allowed to consult electronic devices and/or the Internet during prep time. Students are NOT allowed to use these devices during the round. Group prep and/or coach preparation is verboten. \nIn addition\, after the Richard J. Enst Tournament on Saturday\, the NOVA Alexandria campus will host an exciting Southern Northern Atlantic Forensics Union (SNAFU) Tournament on Sunday\, October 27th\, 2019.  The Sunday\, SNAFU Tournament will also feature all 11 AFA sanctioned events and also NPDA debate. We hope you will join us in beautiful Easton\, PA for a weekend of Individual Events and Lincoln-Douglas Debate! \n– Just like last year\, in both IE and LD\, ALL COVERED SLOTS ARE FREE! \n– As a member of the Northern Tier Debate Conference\, there is a cap on LD entries. Teams are guaranteed five slots in any LD division\, with additional provisional slots that can also be given. \n– The novice division will use the NTDC Novice Evidence Set for all debates in that division. We are also attempting to launch a JV LD division this year as well. \n– All debate judges will be required to submit a judging philosophy and all debaters in Open and JV debate will be required to submit a 1AC outline with plan text and full citations.

It will take place on Sept 14-15\, 2019\, not the 7 & 8 as originally listed on the schedule!!!**\n\nThis competition will feature IPDA Debate (International Public Debate) for both Novice and Varsity Divisions in a single kickoff weekend. Competitors will compete in FOUR preliminary rounds of individual competition followed by three elimination rounds both on Saturday\, September 14th and Sunday\, September 15th. Sorry\, no IE’s!\n\nAll entries must be received by Wednesday\, September 11th\, 2019\, at 5:00 pm (EST). You must register at the Speechwire.com website which provides all of our tournament information. Emailed entries will not be accepted. Changes will be accepted without charge until Thursday\, September 12th\, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at which late fees will be set. Late fees will be charged for any changes after the 12th at noon (in addition to any fees associated with the entry).\n\nMy hope is that this will be an excellent opportunity for new debaters to have their first tournament experience and for returning varsity competitors within our district to get into their groove for the 2019-2020 competition season.
